Why Image2KB exists
Many forms and portals publish a maximum file size such as 20KB, 50KB, 100KB or 200KB. A normal quality slider does not tell you whether the final file will pass that limit. Image2KB starts with the target size, tests a practical combination of format, quality and dimensions, and shows the real output size before download.
The tool is designed for applications, exams, recruitment portals, websites, stores, email attachments and any workflow where a smaller image must still remain useful. It keeps the main action near the top of the page and explains the trade-offs below it so visitors can make a quick, informed choice.
Local browser processing
The core compressor reads the selected image in the browser, creates candidate outputs with canvas encoding, and prepares a downloadable file locally. The ordinary compression workflow does not require the source image to be uploaded to a processing server. This is helpful for draft logos, signatures, personal photos and other files that should not be sent elsewhere just to meet a size limit.
Local processing still depends on your browser and device. Keep your browser current, save important originals separately, and review the downloaded result before submitting it to another service.
A focused tool, not a promise of perfect bytes
Image2KB aims to keep output at or below the selected target when the browser can satisfy the request. Exact byte matching is not promised because image content, dimensions, format encoders and browser implementations vary. Photographs often work well as JPEG or WebP, while transparency, screenshots and sharp text may be better served by PNG.
